Summary

Machine-generated summary

The Digitalisation and Sustainability Research Centre (DZSF) is commissioning a research project on compensating volatile energy generation in the German railway power grid. Germany aims to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045 under the Federal Climate Protection Act. Since April 2023, renewable electricity has been fed directly into the railway power grid, with renewables already covering 71.5% of the railway electricity mix. Growing shares of fluctuating photovoltaic and wind generation, rising demand from rail traffic and the phase-out of conventional power plants raise new technical and economic questions. The project will examine the effects of increasing renewable shares on the railway grid and the public national grid and address the resulting technical and economic issues.

Description

Expected award price

likely award for this notice, from its published estimate of €293,917
€279,221 to €293,917

Comparable awards in this country and sector came in at a median of 99% of their published estimate, half of them between 95% and 100%, based on 63 awards of the last 3 years.

Each award is compared with the estimate of the same lots, framework agreements excluded. A published estimate may include options and renewals, so an award under it is not always a discount.
