Fraunces speaks. It sets every page title, the section marks and the one figure a page is about. It is a variable face with four axes, and each one has a job here.

Colour
Mediterrània, by day and by night
Four colours from the Mediterranean: the deep sea, the water, the sky and the sun. Everything else is a pair, one value for the day and one for the night, declared once. The whole site turns on a single property, so no page can be forgotten in the dark.

The rules we keep, and why

One card, one button, one field, one hairline, one hover.
A site grows a sixth variant of everything one feature at a time. Writing the vocabulary down is how it stops.

Gold always carries dark ink.
Deep sea on sun reads at 7.9:1. White on sun would read at 1.7:1, and nobody could.

Every colour has a night value.
It is declared once, as a pair, so the dark edition is never an afterthought.

Nothing on the first screen animates in.
A page that hides what it has already painted makes the reader wait for nothing.

Everything works without a script.
The script only adds. A search engine, a slow phone and a careful reader all get the whole page.

A figure links to the list it counts.
A number you cannot check is an opinion.

Every control on a phone is at least that tall, and every field is set at 16 pixels so the phone never zooms in on it.
