Fels- und Hangsicherung in Mauel Strecke 2651, km 59,345 Die Deutsche Bahn plant die Sicherung einer steinschlaggefährdeten Fels- und Hangböschung entlang der DB-Strecke 2651 (Köln-Deutz - Berzdorf) im Abschnitt zwischen Bahn-km 59,344 und km 59,387, südlich des Mauel-Tunnels. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine eingleisige, elektrifizierte Hauptstrecke mit Personen- und Güterverkehr, welche im Streckenabschnitt Windeck-Nord - Windeck-Süd verläuft. Im Zuge von Sonderbegutachtungen nach mehreren Steinschlagereignissen wurde festgestellt, dass der betroffene Felsabschnitt infolge der Verwitterung des anstehenden Sandsteins sowie ungünstig orientierter und teilweise weit geöffneter Kluftscharen eine deutliche Instabilität aufweist. Diese geologischen Strukturen begünstigen sowohl Gleit- als auch Kippbewegungen einzelner Felskörper. Zusätzlich wirken Frost-Tau-Wechsel sowie Wurzeldruck der Vegetation destabilisierend und fördern die fortschreitende Entfestigung des Gesteins. An mehreren Stellen wurden frische Ablösespuren sowie rezente Sturzereignisse dokumentiert, wodurch die Betriebssicherheit der Strecke wiederholt beeinträchtigt wurde. Auf Grundlage der geotechnischen Bewertung und der Standsicherheitsanalyse wird eine Sicherung des Felsanschnitts empfohlen. Vorgesehen ist die Installation eines Steinschlagschutzzauns sowie von zwei Steinschlagschutznetzen mit Auffangschürze, um den Bahnbetrieb dauerhaft vor Gefährdungen durch Steinschlag zu schützen.
