Helsingin yliopisto on selvittänyt markkinoilla saatavilla olevat vaihtoehtoiset ratkaisut ja mikään muu laitteisto ei täytä samanaikaisesti kaikkia tutkimuksen vaatimia seuraavia vaatimuksia: erittäin matala havaintoraja (~10 ppt), laaja mittausalue (C5-C20), kyky yhdistää GC- ja PTRMS-mittaukset sekä mahdollisuus reaaliaikaiseen 10 Hz vuomittaukseen.
