Description

The contract concerns the project "Opam", which covers the sustained maintenance, hardening, and continued stewardship of the package manager for the OCaml programming language. As part of nine work packages, the contract covers especially the diagnosis of structural limitations and identification of underlying recurring issues through the systematic triage of community reported problems and the review of contributor submissions, a refactor of the codebase, repairs to the mechanism that pins exact dependency versions, including an assessment of a more robust redesign to minimize the need for subsequent fixes, the hardening of the tool's preview and write-protection modes, checks for reproducible builds, the resolution of known security issues, expanded documentation and tutorials, a repeatable release process, and broader test coverage. The aim of this service is to sustain and secure a package manager on which the entire OCaml ecosystem depends, keeping the analysis and verification tools it builds from source rebuildable, inspectable, and independent of any single vendor.
