Summary

Machine-generated summary

The procurement seeks research and development services for communication, detection and imaging through solid conductive barriers such as Faraday cages. The buyer requires a prototype at technology readiness level up to TRL 4 covering five scenarios: communication through metal walls such as ship hulls and containers; imaging through metal walls; communication through sand or clay such as concrete walls and underground tunnels; imaging through sand or clay; and detection of small drones behind buildings and in urban areas or other places where direct line of sight is obstructed. Related consultancy services are included in the scope of the research contract.

Description

This tender focuses on research enabling communication, imaging and detection through solid conductive barriers or Faraday cages. Five key operational scenarios (A-E) are presented below, each illustrating a distinct use case. The aim of this research tender is to develop a prototype (up to TRL 4) that ideally demonstrates the following capabilities for each scenario: A. Communication through metal walls (e.g. ship hulls, containers). B. Imaging through metal walls (e.g. ship hulls, containers). C. Communication through sand/clay (e.g. concrete walls, underground tunnels). D. Imaging through sand/clay (e.g. concrete walls, underground tunnels). E. Detection of (small) UAVs behind buildings, in urban areas, and other areas where a direct line of sight is obstructed. Based on 455 awards with a named winner over the last 3 years. Counted by award, not by value, because lot and framework amounts are not comparable. Concentrated means the three most frequent winners took 65% or more of the awards; many suppliers, under 35% with at least ten different winners.
