Die 6. Sachsen-Anhaltische Landesgartenschau findet im Jahr 2028 in der Lutherstadt Wittenberg statt, einer Stadt, deren Geschichte untrennbar mit der Reformation verbunden ist. Mit der Schlosskirche, der Stadtkirche St. Marien, dem Lutherhaus und dem Melanchthonhaus verfügt sie über vier UNESCOWelterbestätten. Zugleich ist Wittenberg eine Stadt an der Elbe. Die Flusslandschaft prägt ihren Landschaftsraum und bildet den Übergang zwischen historischer Altstadt und Fluss Die Landesgartenschau Lutherstadt Wittenberg 2028 steht unter der Leitidee „Gartenschau im Welterbe“. Die Kuhlache bildet einen zentralen Landschafts- und Ausstellungsbereich zwischen historischer Stadt und Elbe. Für den Teilbereich Kuhlache Ost liegt ein Vorentwurf auf dem Stand der Leistungsphasen 1 und 2, für Freianlagen nach HOAI 2021 vor. Gegenstand der Vergabe ist die planerische Fortschreibung dieses Vorentwurfs in den Leistungsphasen 3 bis 9. Die weitere Planung hat auf den vorhandenen Planungsgrundlagen, der räumlichen Grundidee sowie den in den Anlagen dokumentierten Gestaltungsprinzipien und Leitbildern aufzubauen. Auf einer Revitalisierungsfläche von rund 25.500 m² soll ein hochwertiger, dauerhaft nutzbarer Landschaftspark entstehen. Während der Landesgartenschau bildet die Kuhlache Ost den Kernbereich der gärtnerischen Präsentationen und Besucherangebote.
