Das Projekt QCMineral ist eines der Projekte aus der Quantencomputing-Initiative des DLR und zielt ab auf die Entwicklung mineralischer Werkstoffe und Prozesse für die Nutzung zur Gewinnung erneuerbarer, kohlenstoffneutraler Energie und Brennstoffe sowie zur Optimierung und Entwicklung neuartiger amorpher Festkörper (Gläser) und Glaskeramiken. Im Rahmen des hier ausgeschriebenen Teilprojekts „QUAntum Dynamics Research for Innovative Glass Applications“ (QUADRIGA) sollen ausgehend von der klassischen HPC-Simulation von kristallinen und amorphen SiO2-(Misch )Oxiden durch Integration von Quantenalgorithmen leistungsfähige QC/HPC-Hybridsimulationen entwickelt werden, die es ermöglichen, realistische materialwissenschaftliche Problemstellungen der industriellen Materialentwicklung und -optimierung vollumfänglich in atomistischen Simulationen abzubilden. Konkrete Ziele des Projektes QCMineral QUADRIGA sind: • Klassische HPC-Simulation und hybride QC/HPC-Simulationen von kristallinen, teilamorphen und amorphen SiO2-(Misch-)Oxiden. • Entwicklung und Einbettung von leistungsfähigen Quantenalgorithmen (>> 10³ Atome) in bestehende industrielle Programmpakete zur Simulation von periodischen Systemen sowie amorphen und teilamorphen Materialienmodifikationen von funktionellen Oxidwerkstoffen (Gläser, Glaskeramiken). • Bearbeitung realer materialwissenschaftlicher Fragestellungen der industriellen Forschung und Materialentwicklung auf Basis von ab initio Rechnungen sowie ausgehend von der Analyse bestehender Daten durch maschinelles Lernen.
