Die Stadt Thun und die Energie Thun AG beabsichtigen in der Waisenhausstrasse bestehende Leitungen zu sanieren und das Fernwärmenetz auszubauen. Damit Synergien genutzt und die Arbeitsprozesse vereinfacht organisiert werden können, sollen die Planungsarbeiten an einen Partner vergeben werden. Für den Rohrleitungsbau (FW, WAS, GAS) werden weitere Fachspezialisten benötigt, welche durch Energie Thun AG selbst geordert oder geleistet werden. Für einen geordneten Projektablauf soll der gesuchte Planer übergeordnete Aufgaben in der Koordination, für den Verkehr, für die Kommunikation und für Kanalisationshausanschlüsse wahrnehmen oder bei Zuarbeiten mithelfen. Unter Berücksichtigung weiterer Projekte in der Stadt Thun sollen die Hauptarbeiten im Jahr 2030 beendet sein und für die Heizperiode 2030/2031 eine Wärmelieferung möglich werden. Ein paralleles Bauen in den einzelnen Etappen ist nach erster Einschätzung wohl zwingend notwendig.
