Summary

Machine-generated summary

Nestrans is commissioning a project delivering services under its established GetAbout brand, which engages employers and the private sector on transport needs and travel behaviours across the North East of Scotland. The project aims to evolve this engagement and heighten impact through five distinct workstreams, encouraging use of existing sustainable travel measures and providing tailored workplace travel planning. It forms part of a funding award to Nestrans from a 20 million GBP Scottish Government investment for 2026/27 under the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, addressing affordability, accessibility and availability barriers to transport for employment, skills training and household income. Nestrans has received a grant award of 985,809 GBP for 2026/27, out of a total of 11 million GBP distributed across Scotland's seven Regional Transport Partnerships and 32 Local Employability Partnerships. Full details appear in the Invitation to Tender and associated documents.

Description

This project is being commissioned as part of a funding award to Nestrans from a 20 million GBP Scottish Government investment during 2026/27 as part of the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, which will support measures to address the affordability, accessibility and availability barriers of transport to employment, helping to address the cost of living crisis and child poverty by saving people money in travelling to work and opening up opportunities for employment and skills training that will increase household incomes. This funding is being distributed across the seven Regional Transport Partnerships (RTPs) and the 32 Local Employability Partnerships (LEPs) across Scotland. Nestrans has received a grant award of 985,809 GBP for the 2026/27 financial year out of a total award to the RTPs of 11 million GBP. This funding will help to deliver on national strategy (Bringing Hope, Building Futures: Tackling child poverty delivery plan 2026-2031) plus regional and local strategies. Getabout is the established mechanism that Nestrans and partners use when engaging with employers and the private sector regarding transport needs and travel behaviours across the region. This can range from encouraging the use of existing sustainable travel measures or looking towards a more tailored approach with travel planning for specific workplaces. This project looks to evolve this engagement utilising the GetAbout brand, heightening impact by delivering on five distinct workstreams.
