Summary

Machine-generated summary

EPFL, in close collaboration with the University of Geneva (UNIGE), plans to purchase a state-of-the-art sputter deposition system designed specifically for producing high-quality superconducting thin films. The system will be installed and operated at the EPFL Center of MicroNanotechnology (EPFL CMi), a centralised micro- and nanofabrication facility serving all EPFL faculties and open to external universities and local industry partners, with over 600 active users per year. It will support leading research on single-photon detectors, aiming to bridge the gap between laboratory fabrication and industrial production by enabling deposition on 200 mm wafers. Particular emphasis is placed on film quality and superconducting properties, reproducibility and uniformity, ease of use, fast training of new users, flexible process control in an R&D environment, integration with existing infrastructures, and responsive supplier technical and process support.
