Description

Die Universität Paderborn plant das hier vorhandene Hochleistungsrechnersystem Otus-T2 (HPC-System mit Bezeichnung Otus-T2) zu erweitern, welches bereits für die bundesweite Nutzung durch Wissenschaftler*innen deutscher Forschungsinstitutionen zur Verfügung steht. Die geplante Erweiterung (HPC-System Otus-T3) wird das erste HPC-System der drei hpcFachcluster.nrw Systeme sein und soll durch das Paderborn Center for ParallelComputing (PC2) -Forschungseinrichtung der Universität Paderborn - betrieben werden. Das HPC-System Otus T3 wird für anspruchsvolle Aufgabenstellungen aus den rechnergestützten Wissenschaften benötigt und u. a. in den Schwerpunkten "Simulation natur- und ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Fragestellungen" und "Künstliche Intelligenz / Maschines Lernen" eingesetzt werden. Otus-T3 soll in die bereits bestehende HPC-Infrastruktur von Otus-T2 integriert werden. Parallele Anwendungen sollen ¨übergreifend und performant auf den Rechenknoten von Otus-T2 und Otus-T3 lauffähig sein. Die Integration aller Rechenknoten in die vorhandene InfiniBand-Fabric ist hierfür erforderlich und ermöglicht gleichzeitig einen performanten Zugriff auf das erweiterte Dateisystem. - Eine Integration in die PC2 Sicherheits- und Monitoring-Infrastruktur. - Nutzung der vorhandenen Zugangsinfrastruktur. Ggf. ergänzt um spezielle Zugangssysteme. - Erweiterung der Speicherkapazität und der Bandbreite des parallelen Speichersystems von Otus-T2 (GPFS). Die Integration soll direkt erfolgen, ohne Verwendung zusätzlicher Protokolle. Es ist geplant, dass das HPC-System Otus über den Betriebszeitraum technisch aktualisiert und bedarfsgerecht leistungsmäßig angepasst werden soll. Dazu sind Erweiterungsoptionen im späteren Angebot mit zu berücksichtigen.
