Lieferung eines XRF Kernscanners Das MARUM - Zentrum für Marine Umweltwissenschaften an der Universität Bremen hat sich seit seiner Gründung zu einem international anerkannten Zentrum für Meeresforschung entwickelt. MARUM bietet zahlreiche Möglichkeiten für den transdisziplinären Austausch und die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den verschiedenen Disziplinen der Meereswissenschaften. Das MARUM beherbergt das internationale Bremer Bohrkernlager, bestehend aus der größten Kernsammlung der wissenschaftlichen Ozeanbohrprogramme, mit Material aus dem Atlantik und Nebenmeeren. Weiterhin ist MARUM Teil von internationalen missionsspezifischen wissenschaftlichen Bohrprojekten mit seegehenden Expeditionen und Onshore-Aktivitäten in Bremen. Seit Nov 1997 betreiben wir ein Labor für spezielle Geochemie-Kernscanner, die sich die Röntgenfluoreszenz-(RFA, bzw. X-Ray Fluorescence, XRF) Analyse zu Nutze machen. Diese RFA-Kernscanner analysieren kontinuierlich, zerstörungsfrei und wenn gewünscht in sehr hoher (Submillimeter-)Auflösung in relativ kurzer Zeit die chemische Zusammensetzung an der Oberfläche von Bohrkernhälften. Dabei wird das gesamte in den marinen Geowissenschaften wichtige Elementspektrum erfasst und vor allem exzellente Daten für leichte Elemente generiert. Es soll ein zusätzlicher RFA-Kernscanner angeschafft werden, der mittelfristig eines der älteren Geräte ersetzen wird.
