Summary

Machine-generated summary

The City of Salzgitter is awarding a service concession for the rollout of broadband infrastructure in the Gebhardshagen district. Following sector dialogues and market consultation, the city identified an undersupply of fast broadband connections in the southwestern area of Gebhardshagen. The aim is to connect underserved addresses with fibre optic lines and achieve full coverage with a high performance telecommunications network, with subsidised connections reliably providing at least one gigabit per second symmetrically. A federal funding decision supports the economic gap model under the Gigabit Directive 2.0. The concessionaire recovers its investment from end customers, while the uncovered costs, in part covered by grants, are passed on through a private law contract with the city.
