Der Verkehrsverband Hochtaunus (VHT) plant die Elektrifizierung der Taunusbahn. Die Strecke der Taunusbahn von Friedrichsdorf nach Brandoberndorf ist eine eingleisige, nicht elektrifizierte Nebenbahn von ca. 37 km Länge. Sie ist im Eigentum des Verkehrsverband Hochtaunus (VHT). Der für die Elektrifizierung vorgesehene Streckenabschnitt von Friedrichsdorf nach Usingen hat eine Länge von ca. 18 km und liegt vollständig im Hochtaunuskreis. Er verläuft von Friedrichsdorf über die Bahnhöfe Köppern, Saalburg, Wehrheim und Neu-Anspach sowie den Haltepunkt Hausen nach Usingen. Weitere Bestandteile des Vorhabens sind u.a. ein zweigleisiger Ausbau der Strecke auf einer Länge von ca. 2 km, der Umbau des Bahnhofs Usingen sowie der Ausbau des Haltepunkts in Hundstadt zum Kreuzungsbahnhof. Ferner erfolgen auch die erforderlichen Anpassungen der Leit- und Sicherungstechnik sowie der Bahnübergänge. Die Bau- und Planungskosten für dieses Projekt werden mit EUR 145 Mio. veranschlagt. Es wird mit einer derzeit geplanten Bauzeit bis zum 31.12.2029 gerechnet. Der Versicherungsvertrag beginnt nach Beendigung des Ausschreibungsverfahrens mit dem Datum des Zuschlages. In der Haftpflichtversicherung beträgt die Deckungssumme je Schadenfall EUR 20.000.000 pauschal für Personen-, Sach- und Vermögensschäden, einschließlich der Leistungen aus der Umwelthaftpflichtversicherung. In der Planungshaftpflichtversicherung steht eine separate Deckungssumme je Schadenfall von EUR 10.000.000 pauschal für Sach- und Vermögensschäden zur Verfügung. Die vorgenannten Summen sind dreifach maximiert. Die Extendend Maintenance im Teil Bauleistungs- und Montageversicherung beträgt 24 Monate. Die Nachhaftung beträgt in der Haftpflichtversicherung 10 Jahre, in der Umwelthaftpflicht- und Umweltschadenversicherung 5 Jahre. Der generelle Selbstbehalt beträgt mindestens EUR 10.000. Für Personenschäden entfällt der Selbstbehalt. Kombinierte Bauleistungs-, Montage-, Haftpflicht- und Planungshaftpflichtversicherung für das benannte Bauvorhaben für den Bauherrn und alle mit der Planung, Überwachung und Ausführung dieses Bauprojekts von dem Verkehrsverband Hochtaunus (VHT) beauftragten Unternehmen. Der Auftrag umfasst in Los 1 die Vertragsführung und in Los 2 die Vertragsbeteiligung.
