Hankinnan kohteena on DGPS-radionavigointijärjestelmän valtakunnalliset huolto-, ylläpito- ja valvontapalvelut. DGPS-järjestelmä on teknisesti valtakunnallisesti erityislaatuinen keskiaaltoalueella (MF) toimiva koko rannikkoalueen ja Saimaan alueen kattava radionavigointijärjestelmä. DGPS-järjestelmän radionavigointipalvelua tuotetaan jatkuvatoimisesti 24/7 -periaatteella yhdeksältä MF-taajuusalueen radioasemalta. Valittu toimija omistaa ainoana toimiajan Suomessa MF-taajuusalueen kaupallista lähetinkalustoa ja tuottaa radiopalveluita koko valtakunnan alueella 24/7 periaatteella.
