Description

Lentorata on uusi kaksiraiteinen henkilöliikenteen rata, joka yhdistää Helsinki-Vantaan lentoaseman suoraan kaukojunaliikenteeseen. Rata kulkee pääosin tunnelissa ja lyhentää matka-aikaa lentoasemalle merkittävästi sekä Helsingin keskustan suunnalta että valtakunnallisilta yhteyksiltä. Radan kokonaispituus on noin 25 kilometriä, josta 24 kilometriä sijoittuu tunneliin. Hanke ulottuu Helsingin, Vantaan, Tuusulan ja Keravan alueille. Lentoasema on hankkeen ainoa uusi asema. Se sijoittuu maanalaisena Kehäradan aseman viereen lentoasema-alueelle. Asemalaiturit ovat 450 metriä pitkät, ja asema hyödyntää Kehäradan matkustaja- ja huoltoreittejä. Aseman arvioitu vuosittainen matkustajamäärä on noin 13 miljoonaa. Se palvelee sekä lentomatkustajia että lentoaseman työntekijöitä ja toimii vaihtoasemana lähiliikenteen ja kaukojunien välillä.
