Switzerland - Collection and treatment of municipal waste - Takeover and recycling of scrap metal from Zurich recycling yards (lots 1 to 4)

The City of Zurich waste service ERZ published a contract award for the takeover and recycling of scrap metal collected in the city's recycling yards, split into four lots. The service covers scrap metal of various qualities; small metal from city collection points, bulky waste metal and metal from containers transported for other city departments were excluded. The contract was awarded to DE_Thommen AG Regensdorf for EUR 318,013.61. The collected volume in 2025 was around 1,104 tonnes, considered stable but not binding. The collaboration runs for two years from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028, with ERZ holding a one-sided option to extend by a further calendar year.
