Description

Met de standaard FFR-techniek wordt door middel van drukmetingen vastgesteld wat de ernst van een vernauwing is. Voor het uitvoeren van deze metingen is toediening van Adenosine nodig, waardoor het hart tijdelijk onder stress komt te staan. Inmiddels zijn er technieken beschikbaar die gebruikmaken van zogenoemde Non-Hyperemic Pressure Ratios (NHPR’s), zoals iFR. Deze methoden versnellen het diagnostisch proces en verhogen de patiëntvriendelijkheid. Van alle NHPR-technieken is alleen iFR in meerdere grote internationale studies gevalideerd op klinische eindpunten en heeft deze techniek tevens goedkeuring van de Amerikaanse FDA verkregen. De afdeling Cardiologie heeft op basis van deze argumenten ervoor gekozen om binnen de klinische zorg uitsluitend iFR te gebruiken voor dit onderdeel van de diagnostiek. De betreffende apparatuur is reeds in eigendom en blijft de komende vier jaar up-to-date. Enkel de apparatuur en FFR-wires (de Omniwire) van voornoemde ondernemer heeft voornoemde toepassingsmogelijkheden, waarmee mededinging ontbreekt op basis van technische gronden.
