Description

Shared Research Facilities (SRF) van Wageningen University & Research (WUR) maakt geavanceerde onderzoeksfaciliteiten beschikbaar voor onderzoekers van binnen en buiten de WUR. De apparatuur wordt geplaatst bij groepen die de apparatuur veel gebruiken, daarbij expertise opbouwen, en vervolgens het gebruik van de apparatuur voor of door anderen faciliteren. Het Laboratorium voor Levensmiddelenchemie (Laboratory of Food Chemistry; FCH) van de WUR heeft bij SRF een verzoek gedaan voor investering in het eerder genoemde hoge resolutie massa spectrometrie (HRMS) systeem. In voedsel- en landbouwonderzoek is het scheiden en karakteriseren van kleine moleculen steeds belangrijker. Vloeistofchromatografie (liquid chromatography; LC) gekoppeld aan massa spectrometrie (MS) is één van de krachtigste en meest gebruikte methodes om voedsel- en landbouw-gerelateerde moleculen te scheiden, identificeren en kwantificeren. FCH heeft een sterke positie ontwikkeld in het veld van LC-MS analyses voor voedsel- en landbouwonderzoek, inclusief analyses van monsters afkomstig van dieren, planten, voedselproductie en biomassa. Een groot deel van deze analyses is gefocust op kleine moleculen, binnen de context van ons werkveld verstaan wij daaronder moleculen met een massa tot 2000 Da waarbij het zwaartepunt ligt in het massabereik 100-1000 Da.
