Eastern Region Permanent Way Minor Works Framework

Network Rail is establishing a permanent way minor works framework for the Eastern Region, covering the East Coast, East Midlands, and North & East Routes. The framework has a total value of GBP 48 million excluding VAT including extensions, but it is a nil value commitment framework with anticipated spend of GBP 6 to 7 million per year across four framework holders. Works involve maintaining, renewing, and improving track infrastructure, including re-railing of jointed and continuously welded rail, rail stressing, component replacement, insulated block joint construction, re-sleepering, re-ballasting, switches and crossings renewals, track geometry repairs by lifting and packing, track drainage refurbishment, and installation of way beams and cable troughing. Works are delivered under Network Rail's PCL License, with historically low order values averaging under GBP 25,000.
