The buyer, the German defence testing agency WTD 71, is procuring the construction and delivery of two identical trial boats named SAMSe WTD for research and testing tasks at sea. The boats must be able to deploy, recover and tow various test devices, test sonar equipment, test systems and devices such as communication, reconnaissance, propulsion and navigation equipment for naval ships, serve as a diving platform and carry out military communications, for example during NATO exercises. High manoeuvrability is required. Civilian or proven standards should be used wherever possible. The contract includes initial spares, documentation and training of the client's operating personnel. Delivery is expected in 2030 to 2031.
