The City of Coburg, Germany, plans to accelerate the expansion of photovoltaic (PV) systems for climate and environmental protection. It will make roof areas of municipal buildings and related ancillary facilities available to a contractor who must promptly erect and permanently operate PV systems on these roofs. Electricity generated is to be supplied to the city on site under an onsite PPA, while surplus electricity beyond the building's own demand may be fed into the public grid and marketed at the contractor's discretion.
