The Hamburg-Harburg railway traction power converter plant, shut down in December 2015, is to be recommisioned. Converter E1, fully dismantled and disposed of during the shutdown, must be completely newly designed, manufactured and commissioned. Converter E2, a 35 MW railway traction converter built by ELIN in 1996, still stands in the machine hall and will be fully overhauled and partially renewed as part of the overall measure. Since all auxiliary units, switchgear and the entire periphery were also removed, these must be newly developed and manufactured. Much of the periphery will be prepared during the E2 retrofit for the new E1, creating interfaces that the new build must respect. Close cooperation between all project participants is essential. The works concern the traction power supply system for railway current in Germany.
