Description

Mit dem Wettbewerb soll ein Transformationsprozess in der Oldenburger Innenstadt angestoßen werden, der verschiedene Maßnahmen umfasst. Eine Belebung der Innenstadt soll durch zentrumsnahen Geschosswohnungsbau nördlich des Marktplatzes auf dem ehemaligen Opel-Gelände erfolgen. Der heute durch Individualverkehre geprägte Markt soll zukünftig als Zentrum mit Aufenthalts- und Verweilqualität entwickelt werden. Die öffentlichen Freiräume sollen durch eine Instandsetzung der Freianlagen aufgewertet werden. Die zentrale städtebauliche Baustruktur soll erhalten bleiben. Möglichkeiten einer städtebaulichen Neuordnung bestehen zwischen Markt und Wallanlage. Ziel des städtebaulich-freiraumplanerischen Realisierungswettbewerbs ist die Erlangung von qualitätsvollen Entwürfen für ein nachhaltiges, abgestimmtes Stadtentwicklungs- und Freiraumgestaltungskonzept, das als Grundlage für die im Anschluss durchzuführende Aufwertung und Neuausrichtung der Oldenburger Innenstadt geeignet ist.
