A German contracting authority is procuring a scientific feasibility study as part of the ResNRJwater project (INTERREG North West Europe 2021-2027). The study will examine whether two municipal wastewater treatment plants can be developed into integrated energy hubs. Work includes assessing and optimising existing and potential energy infrastructure, analysing storage and distribution options, designing resilient operating strategies, planning wastewater and sludge treatment processes, and developing contract models for involving external actors and legally secure municipal implementation. The goal is a transferable electricity, heat and contract model that is technically sound, economically viable and ecologically compliant.
