Description

Seit Sommer 2021 ist das Ensemble der ehemaligen Künstlerkolonie auf der Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt als UNESO Welterbestätte anerkannt. Als Willkommensort für die Besucher der Mathildenhöhe und für die Vermittlung der historischen Bedeutung des Ortes wird die Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt ein Informationszentrum errichten. Der formal reduzierte Neubau in Form eines gestapelten gläsernen Pavillons, wird in der Grünanlage des Osthanges der Mathildenhöhe positioniert. In seiner Ausrichtung nimmt das geplante Gebäude die Flucht des Ausstellungsgebäudes auf und bildet eine neue Mitte im historischen Gebäudeensemble. Der Neubau mit 3 Obergeschossen auf einer Grundfläche von ca. 20x20 m wird in massiver Stahlbetonbauweise mit Flachgründung ausgeführt. Dem Entwurfsgedanken folgend, werden die Fassaden mit großflächigen Verglasungen versehen.
