Der Landkreis Peine plant die Erweiterung der bestehenden Feuerwehr-Technischen-Zentrale (FTZ) in der Werner-Nordmeyer-Straße 21 um ein neues Atemschutzzentrum. Ziel des Projekts ist die Sicherstellung und Weiterentwicklung zentraler Dienstleistungen für die Feuerwehren des Landkreises, insbesondere im Bereich Atemschutz. Das neue Zentrum wird als integraler Bestandteil eines kreisweiten Atemschutzverbundes von allen Feuerwehren im Landkreis genutzt. Die Maßnahme umfasst den Neubau eines eingeschossigen Gebäudeteils mit ca. 510 m² Nutzfläche sowie Anpassungsarbeiten Außenanlagen und der Regenentwässerungsanlage. Das Erweiterungsgebäude wird funktional an den Bestand angeschlossen und im Innenhofbereich errichtet. Mit dem Neubau werden die strukturellen und technischen Voraussetzungen geschaffen, um den steigenden Anforderungen an die Atemschutzausbildung, -prüfung und -logistik gerecht zu werden und die Einsatzfähigkeit der Feuerwehren dauerhaft zu gewährleisten.
