Description

Aan de VUB B-PHOT werd een elektro-optisch karakteriseringsplatform ontwikkeld voor fotonische IC’s. Deze opstelling ondersteunt experimenten op nieuwe lasers en geïntegreerde systemen zoals multi-golflengte lasers voor telecom, LIDAR en neuromorfe toepassingen. Hoewel de huidige apparatuur diverse elektrische/optische I/O-combinaties ondersteunt in de optische C-band tot 50 GHz - inclusief topklasse afstembare lasers, eenkanaals arbitraire golfvormgenerator, real-time spectrumanalyser en een optische spectrumanalyser met ultrahoge resolutie - blijven beperkingen bestaan in intensiteit-fase (IQ) modulatie en tijdsdomein-acquisitie voor coherent detectie. Dit beperkt onze mogelijkheden om geavanceerde modulatieformaten en dynamische signalen te genereren en te analyseren. Wij vragen daarom een oscilloscoop met 50 GHz bandbreedte als essentiële uitbreiding. Samen met bestaande apparatuur maakt dit de generatie en karakterisatie van complexe optische of elektrische signalen mogelijk, in tijd én frequentie tot 50 GHz. Deze uitbreiding versterkt de bestaande infrastructuur, opent nieuwe onderzoekslijnen, en ondersteunt hands-on training voor studenten en samenwerking met academische en industriële partners.
