De volgende decennia stevenen we af op een significante opwarming van de gemiddelde jaartemperatuur, met een daarbij horende toename aan weerextremen. De klimaatverandering gaat veel sneller dan bossen zichzelf kunnen aanpassen. Eén van de maatregelen om bossen meer weerbaar te maken tegen klimaatverandering is om het aantal boomsoorten te verhogen. We doen dit door ‘kloempen’ in bestaande bossen te planten - Een kloemp is een groepje van 25 plantjes van dezelfde boomsoort die dicht bij elkaar worden geplant. Het meest vitale boompje wint de competitie en groeit later, mits gepast beheer, uit tot een gezonde volwassen “toekomstboom”. - Door die kloempen in bestaande bossen te planten, “onder scherm” van het kronendak van het oude bos, groeien de plantjes beschut op tegen extreme hitte. - Door kloempen in te planten versnellen we de toename van boomsoortendiversiteit zonder eerst grootschalige kappingen te moeten uitvoeren. We kiezen enkel inheemse boomsoorten met goed verterend bladstrooisel in die kloempen. Aangezien de wildstand in de Vlaamse bossen gemiddeld zeer hoog is, moeten de kloempen tegen vraat van vooral reeën beschermd worden. We doen dit met houten rasters (zogenaamde “reeblocks”) om gebruik van plastiek in bossen te vermijden. Omdat de meeste zandbodems in Vlaanderen verzuurd zijn, voegen we in de plantput nog stoffen toe om de planten betere groeiomstandigheden te bieden. Dit project ondersteunt strategisch programma 7 van het ondernemingsplan van ANB (Blue Deal) (het operationaliseren van een strategie voor de adaptatie van de Vlaamse natuur aan de gevolgen van de klimaatverandering), heel specifiek voor de dennenbossen en gemengde bossen met belangrijk aandeel den. Om de plantplaatsen bereikbaar te maken, zullen waar nodig oude ruimingspistes en toegangswegen vrijgesteld worden. PERCEEL 1 - BOSLAND Dit perceel bevindt zich in de provincie Limburg in de regio Lage tot aan Hoge Kempen. Het domein Pijnven is niet publiek toegankelijk. De boswachters zijn Eddy Ulenaers (0497 67 94 93), Patrick Schuurmans (0479 79 93 65) en Sam Janssen (0492 74 22 34). De bestanden van Molenplek zijn bereikbaar via de Kiefhoekstraat, 3940 Hechtel-Eksel. De bestanden van Gemeentebossen Eksel zijn bereikbaar via de Eindhovensebaan, 3940 Hechtel-Eksel. De bestanden van Heide achter de Gorten zijn bereikbaar via de Napoleonsweg, 3900 Pelt. In de bestanden van Heide achter de Gorten wordt nog een houtexploitatie uitgevoerd vooraleer er kloempen geplaatst moeten worden. Deze exploitatie is normaal gezien afgerond tegen het begin van de opdracht maar kan bij enige vertraging van de exploitatie een impact hebben op de toegankelijkheid van het terrein. Hier dient de inschrijver rekening mee te houden.; PERCEEL 2 - KELCHTERHOEF Dit perceel bevindt zich in de provincie Limburg in de regio Lage tot aan Hoge Kempen. De boswachter is Erwin Vanbriel (0499 59 33 02). De bestanden van Molenplek zijn bereikbaar via de Berkenstraat, 3530 Houthalen-Helchteren.; PERCEEL 3 - ISAEKSHOEF Dit perceel bevindt zich in de provincie Limburg in de regio Hoge Kempen tot Voeren. De boswachter is Jef Broux (0474 84 06 40). De bestanden van Isaekshoef zijn bereikbaar via de Weg naar Zutendaal (thv nr. 199), 3630 Maasmechelen.; PERCEEL 4 - DRIEBEUKENBOS Dit perceel bevindt zich in de provincie Limburg in de regio Hoge Kempen tot Voeren. De boswachter is Steve Cox (0479 67 95 30). De bestanden van Driebeukenbos zijn bereikbaar via de Europalaan, 3650 Dilsen-Stokkem.; PERCEEL 5 - KOLENSPOOR Dit perceel bevindt zich in de provincie Limburg in de regio Hoge Kempen tot Voeren. De boswachter is Steve Cox (0479 67 95 30). In de meest noordelijk gelegen bestanden van Kolenspoor die vooral uit Corsicaanse den bestaan wordt er vanaf september 2026 hout geëxploiteerd. Aansluitend vindt er in die zone ook een bestrijding van de Amerikaanse vogelkers plaats. Hier dient de inschrijver rekening mee te houden.
