Basildon Station Platform Replacements (1&2) GRIP 5-8 2026

c2c is procuring a multi-disciplinary detailed design contract for the renewal of platforms 1 and 2 at Basildon station in south Essex, on the Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness line. The works, delivered under a JCT Design and Build contract, cover the 1974 sections of both platforms, replacement of the two passenger lifts serving the platforms, and associated station systems. Basildon station was built in the 1970s, with platforms partly founded on a 1930s embankment and partly on a bridge deck over Station Way. Serious defects found in summer 2021 led to temporary propping, monitoring and regular inspection pending demolition and renewal of the platforms.
