Appointment of an Independent Person to the Staffordshire Pension Fund

Staffordshire County Council, as administering authority of the Staffordshire Pension Fund, is procuring the appointment of an independent person to the Fund. The role is required under the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) (Governance) Regulations 2026, which amend the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations 2013. New Regulation 53A(5) requires an administering authority that delegates functions under the 2013 Regulations to a committee, sub-committee or officer to appoint an independent person to support the discharge of functions relating to the Scheme, including investment strategy, governance and administration. Staffordshire County Council delegates relevant functions to the Pensions Committee and must therefore make this appointment.
