Die bestehenden Fahrzeuge haben ihren Lebenszyklus erreicht oder werden diesen in den nächsten Jahren erreichen. Mit dieser Ersatzbeschaffung soll eine Flottenverjüngung nach dem aktuellen Stand der Technik erreicht werden, welche der Fahrzeugpolitik und den Nachhaltigkeitsbestimmungen der Stadt Zürich entspricht.
