Având în vedere că partenerul care furnizează majoritatatea segmentelor de fibră optică (S.C. Telecomunicații CFR S.A.) nu are acoperire în anumite zone ale țării, este necesară completarea infrastructurii prin închirierea de fibră optică de la alți furnizori. Specificul activităților instituțiilor conectate, academice și de cercetare, implică capacități de transfer semnificative și o disponibilitate a rețelei de comunicații cât mai ridicată.Obiectivul general al achiziției este creșterea rezilienței rețelei de comunicații RoEduNet printr-o completare eficientă, fiabilă și sigură a infrastructurii de comunicații, în vederea îmbunătățirii conectivității și a accesului la servicii de date pentru instituțiile conectate.
