Camera pentru depunerea de straturi subțiri semiconductoare din nitruri III-V, cu uniformitate foarte bună pe suprafețe de mari dimensiuni, utilizând tehnici de pulverizare în câmp magnetron, va fi destinată tranziției de la cercetări de laborator pe substraturi de mici dimensiuni către procesări pe substraturi de mari dimensiuni (diametru de 4 inch), conforme cu standardele activităților de microproducție. Camera de depunere este necesara pentru diversificarea capabilităților de sinteză a materialelor semiconductoare pe plachete de 4 inch (standard industrial), deschizând astfel posibilitatea fabricării de dispozitive electronice și optoelectronice cu potențial industrial și comercial, în cadrul Institutului Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare pentru Fizica Materialelor (INCDFM), în concordanță cu Strategia și Planul de Dezvoltare al INCDFM, precum și cu tendințele și provocările europene din domeniul semiconductorilor, în conformitate cu obiectivele proiectului menționat.
