Description
According to the Waste Management Plan of the Republic of North Macedonia 2021-2031, about 112,000 tons of packaging waste were generated in the country in 2023, which equals around 60 kg of packaging waste per capita. In municipalities with up to 11,000 inhabitants, about 660 tons of packaging waste are generated annually, while in municipalities with up to 30,000 inhabitants, around 1,800 tons per year. For the collection and transportation of packaging waste to the nearest recycling and treatment location, the most optimal vehicle is one with a waste collection box capacity of at least 5 m³, a receiving hopper capacity of 1 m³, and a compaction system with a minimum ratio of 5:1. With this capacity, it would be possible to collect packaging waste 8-9 times per month, or up to twice per week, which represents the optimal technical and economic solution for operators (the public utility companies of the municipalities). Rural municipalities, i.e. the rural areas of certain urban municipalities, use waste selection bins of 120 liters and containers of 240/360/1100 m³. The vehicles that will collect packaging waste from these municipalities must be equipped with a system for lifting bins and containers of all the mentioned types, i.e. they must have a system for lifting bins and containers of 120/240/360/1100 m³ with automatic hydraulic control, in order to provide the appropriate service.
