TNO heeft toegang nodig tot een AMS-faciliteit met instrumentele opstellingen die een zeer gevoelige bepaling van 14c-tracers mogelijk maken, en met een instrumentele opstelling die de ontwikkeling van gevoelige detectiemethoden mogelijk maakt. €750.000 TNO CBRN Protection doet onderzoek naar een breed scala aan dreigingen variërend van kleine moleculen tot bacteriën en virussen. Massaspectrometrie is een veelzijdige techniek die hier een sleutelrol in speelt. Massaspectrometrie wordt veelal gekoppeld aan gas chromatografie (GC-MS) of vloeistofchromatografie (LC-MS). Vanwege het verouderen van het huidige systeem, is er noodzaak om een nieuw systeem te kopen. 1
