Summary

Machine-generated summary

Aarhus University is procuring fieldwork for a large, cross-national survey on public perceptions of climate-related issues, part of the EU-funded GENIE research project. The survey combines standard question modules with two short choice experiments, on preferences for achieving net zero, including carbon dioxide removal, and on preferred housing lifestyles. Around 20 countries are planned, with about 1,000 respondents per country, roughly 20,000 in total, 15-minute surveys, translation where required, and demographic quotas. Strong emphasis is placed on data quality and safeguards against fraudulent responses. The estimated value and bid deadline are not stated. Ethical approval was granted by Aarhus University's Research Ethics Committee (BSS-2026-056-S1).

Description

This procurement supports fieldwork for a large-scale, cross-national survey conducted as part of an EU-funded research project (GENIE) on public perceptions of climate-related issues. The survey combines a set of standard questions, broken down into distinct question modules, with two short choice experiments (also known as conjoint analysis) - one on preferences for achieving net zero, including the role of carbon dioxide removal, and one on preferred housing lifestyles - each comprising approximately five to seven choice tasks. Fieldwork is planned across approximately 20 countries (provisional, with up to 26 under consideration depending on available budget): Germany, Italy, Mexico, United States, South Korea, Nigeria, China, Po-land, India, Turkey, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Canada, Vietnam, Australia, and South Africa. We are aiming to sample approximately 1,000 respondents per country (thus, around 20,000 in total), with translation to be provided where required and a survey length of approxi-mately 15 minutes. Standard demographic quotas will be applied (age, gender, geographic region, educa-tion and income), together with randomized assignment to survey modules and randomized presentation of choice tasks for respondents allocated to the experimental components. Ethical approval has been granted by Aarhus University's Research Ethics Committee / Research Ethics Committee - BSS (Institutional Review Board), under approval number BSS-2026-056-S1. Fieldwork will commence once the survey instrument has been finalized with project partners. As the final and largest survey across this research program, particular emphasis has been placed on data quality in this procure-ment, including robust respondent verification procedures and safeguards against fraudulent responses, including those related to generative AI.
