L'État français a concédé à la société COFIROUTE la construction et l'exploitation d’une partie des autoroutes A10, A11, A28, A71, A81 et A85. Dans le cadre de ce contrat, la société COFIROUTE s'engage à exécuter, à ses frais, risques et périls, toutes les études, procédures, travaux et opérations techniques et financières se rapportant ont cette concession. À ce titre, la société COFIROUTE est tenue, sauf cas de force majeure, de mettre en œuvre tous les moyens conformes aux règles de l’art pour maintenir la continuité de la circulation dans de bonnes conditions de sécurité et de commodité. COFIROUTE est, pour sa part, autorisée à percevoir des péages sur l'autoroute et des redevances pour installations annexes, pour les parties concédées des autoroutes précitées. La longueur totale d'autoroute concédée est de 1101 kilomètres environ.
