EMT tiene otorgada por el Ayuntamiento de Madrid la encomienda de gestión para la realización del servicio de recogida, retirada, depósito y custodia de vehículos en la vía pública a través del Servicio de Grúa de la Dirección de Movilidad, el cual contempla la retirada de todo tipo de vehículos, incluidas las motocicletas y vehículos de movilidad personal. Para la retirada eficaz de este tipo de vehículos se considera necesario contar con unas grúas con unas características específicas: vehículos caja, con rampa y con unas dimensiones específicas para poder entrar en las calles céntricas sin problemas de maniobrabilidad.
