Description

El regadío ha sido fundamental en la economía agraria española, impulsando el desarrollo rural, el empleo y la productividad agrícola. Actualmente, el sector agrario consume alrededor del 70 % de los recursos hídricos del país. Sin embargo, las infraestructuras de riego presentan pérdidas de entre el 30 % y el 40 %, agravadas por la escasez y degradación de los recursos hídricos, lo que exige modernización y mejoras urgentes. El Decreto 118/1973 estableció la ejecución de obras de riego bajo responsabilidad del entonces Ministerio de Obras Públicas, competencias que hoy recaen en el Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico. Las infraestructuras, de titularidad estatal, gestionadas por la Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro, muchas con décadas de antigüedad, requieren actuaciones para reducir pérdidas y asegurar un uso sostenible del agua. El mantenimiento adecuado de canales, túneles, sifones, sistemas de regulación y telecontrol, así como de caminos y drenajes, es esencial para garantizar la seguridad del suministro y la eficiencia hídrica.
