Description

El canal de drenaje D-7, ejecutado por la Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura, O.A., tiene como objeto captar la escorrentía superficial antes de su entrada en el casco urbano de Los Alcázares, interceptando estas aguas y conduciéndolas hasta la Rambla del Albujón. El canal presenta una sección trapecial, una longitud de aproximadamente 4 km y está construido en tierra, con el lateral izquierdo protegido por una capa de escollera. Tras diversas intervenciones de mejora y ampliación de capacidad hidráulica, esta infraestructura constituye un elemento fundamental en el sistema de defensa frente a avenidas en el Campo de Cartagena y entorno del Mar Menor. Esta infraestructura es de vital importancia para aliviar y desviar el flujo de corriente de agua que se ocasiona en los episodios de lluvias torrenciales que se producen con frecuencia en los meses de septiembre y octubre, de manera que disminuye en gran medida las escorrentías hasta el casco urbano de Los Alcázares, municipio gravemente afectado por estos episodios. Durante el año, y especialmente en los periodos de mayor crecimiento vegetativo, se produce una proliferación de cañas de altura variable en el interior del canal, tanto entre la escollera como en la solera y en el talud derecho, además de la acumulación de materiales arrastrados procedentes de la actividad agrícola. Todo ello reduce progresivamente la capacidad hidráulica del cauce, comprometiendo su funcionalidad. Por estas razones resulta imprescindible llevar a cabo trabajos de desbroce, saneamiento y limpieza a lo largo de toda la traza de 4 km, garantizando que el canal D-7 se mantenga en condiciones óptimas para cumplir con su cometido.
