ES RDE 111 - Field-scale delivery of water into lowland peat: quantifying control

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs awarded a Defra Self-Service Direct Award contract for research services. The project is part of a framework for two complementary research projects to improve Defra's understanding of the feasibility of maintaining raised water tables on lowland peat. It builds on existing evidence from Lowland Peat 3 Work Package 1, the Pump Drained Lowland Peat water balance work, LP3+, and the Water Table Assessment in Lowland Agricultural Peat programme. These studies identified two distinct but linked challenges limiting confidence in maintaining raised water tables. The contract was awarded to Jeremy Benn Associates Limited, trading as JBA Consulting.
