Η παρούσα μελέτη, στο πλαίσιο της βελτίωσης και εκσυγχρονισμού του Επαρχιακού οδικού δικτύου της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Ρεθύμνης, έχει ως αντικείμενο τη σύνδεση Πανόρμου - Γαράζου με νέα χάραξη ως ένα άξονα που συνδέει την παραλιακή με την ημιορεινή περιοχή του δήμου Μυλοποτάμου. Το οδικό τμήμα θα ανήκει στη κατηγορία ΑΙΙΙ «Οδός μεταξύ επαρχιών/οικισμών» σύμφωνα με τις ΟΜΟΕ. Το μήκος του οδικού τμήματος εκτιμάται σε 16 χλμ. Για την σύνδεση με τους οικισμούς καθώς και με το τοπικό οδικό δίκτυο εκτιμάται ότι θα διαμορφωθούν 6 τρισκελείς ισόπεδοι κόμβοι και 2 τετρασκελείς. Στο συγκεκριμένο οδικό τμήμα εκτιμάται ότι αντιστοιχούν 2 γέφυρες μήκους 120 μ. περίπου η πρώτη και 60μ. περίπου η δεύτερη.
