Greece - Construction works for ports - Construction of the cruise ship section of Souda port - Seabed dredging

The works concern dredging operations in the wider marine area of Souda port and around the extension of the new pier, aiming to secure a usable depth of up to 12.50 m. The works include shaping the required operational depths to serve the new pier and the port, and creating a Confined Aquatic Disposal (CAD) cell to manage part of the dredged material. Around the area of the pier extension project named 'ADRIAS', to be implemented under a separate contract, the seabed will be remediated by excavating and removing in-situ soil to a thickness of about 5.0 m, stepped as far as possible following the seabed relief. Dredged materials are classified as non-hazardous and inert; inert materials will be deposited at an approved sea disposal area, while non-hazardous material will be buried in the CAD cell and covered with an inert layer at least 3 m thick.
