Germany - Road construction works - Complete renewal of Gutenbergstrasse in Giessen, phase 1

The City of Giessen, together with Stadtwerke Giessen, Mittelhessische Wasserbetriebe and the public order office, is procuring the complete renewal of Gutenbergstrasse between Gruenberger Strasse and Nahrungsberg. Works include road construction with a new asphalt carriageway, repaved footpaths, a redesigned street layout with kerbline optimisation to create parking and green areas, and barrier-free junctions at Gruenberger Strasse and Nahrungsberg. Sewer works cover open-trench reconstruction of the rainwater sewer, repairs to the wastewater sewer and trenchless rehabilitation using a GRP liner. Utility works include district heating, water and gas mains, microducts, telecom cables, power and street lighting cables, plus renewed house connections. Two traffic signal masts with foundations will also be renewed.
