Die Stadtnetze Münster GmbH ist eine hundertprozentige Tochtergesellschaft der Stadtwerke Münster GmbH und betreibt als moderne Netzgesellschaft die Strom-, Gas-, Wasser-, Wärme- und Glasfasernetze in Münster. Gegründet im Jahr 2005 als Stadtwerke Münster Netzgesellschaft mbH, erfolgte 2014 die Umfirmierung zur münsterNETZ GmbH. Seit dem 1. September 2020 agiert das Unternehmen unter dem Namen Stadtnetze Münster GmbH und ist als zuverlässiger Ansprechpartner für Kunden vor Ort aktiv. Die Gruppe Kommunikationstechnik (KT) ist innerhalb der Stadtnetze Münster GmbH (SNMS) verantwortlich für den Betrieb der konzernweiten Telefonie-, Funk-, Video- und Datentechnik und den der dazu gehörigen Glasfaser- und Kupferkabelnetze im Bereich der Stadt Münster und darüber hinaus. Neben der Sprachkommunikation findet auf diesen Netzen auch die Datenkommunikation für die Strom-, Gas-, Wasser- und Fernwärmeleitstellen, so wie die Kommunikation des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs, der Heizkraftwerke und Wind- und Solarenergieanlagen statt. Außerhalb des Verantwortungsbereiche liegen jedoch Dienste und Systeme für "Büro-IT". Somit liegt der Fokus auf Sprachkommunikation und Datenübertragung für kritische Infrastruktur. Ziel der Stadtnetze ist es die aktuell genutzten Switches von Extreme Networks aus den Serien X440 G2 und vergleichbar zu ersetzen, so dass es weiterhin Softwareupdates und Support für die neuen Switches gibt. Zeitgleich ermöglicht dieser umfangreiche Austausch eine Restrukturierung des Netzes. Dies beinhaltet: - Auflösung der Trennung der Bereiche Voice und MAN: Switches in Etagenverteilern werden nun sowohl für Voice, als auch für andere Anwendungen, bspw. Kameras, verwendet. - Verkleinerung der Rapid-Spanning-Tree Domänen Die DSL-basierten Kupferringe sollen eigenen RSTP-Domänen bilden und damit Ring-Immanent dafür sorgen, dass Netzwerkloops aufgehoben werden. Ein RSTP-Event im Kupferring soll keine Auswirkungen mehr auf das gesamte Netz haben. - Einführung einer geeigneten Underlay / Overlay Architektur im Netz. o Skalierbare Layer 2 Overlays müssen einfach realisierbar sein o Integration in die bestehenden RSTP, aber auch in die neu zu errichtenden RSTP Domains der Kupferringe o Standardkonformes Underlay (bspw. SPBM, IP / MPLS, IP / VXLAN / EVPN) - Dabei sollen bestehende Extreme ISW-Switches und Extreme 5320 und 5420 weiter im Zielnetz betrieben werden können.
