Description

1x Arbeitsplattform für Faserziehturm Die Herstellung einer optischen Faser beginnt mit einer Faserpreform. Vereinfacht gesagt handelt es sich dabei um ein Glasrohr mit einem Durchmesser in der Größenordnung von Zentimetern. In diese Preform können anschließend mithilfe eines Spezialverfahrens seltene Erden eingebracht werden. Anschießend kann die Preform kollabiert werden, sodass ein Glaszylinder vorhanden ist, welcher makroskopisch schon die Zielbrechungsindexverteilung sowie die aktiven Ionen enthält. Im nächsten Schritt, dem Faserziehen, wird die kollabierte Preform von der Spitze eines 13 m hohen Faserziehturms durch einen heißen Ofen geführt, und auf dem Weg nach unten in die Länge gezogen, wodurch die ursprüngliche Preform von einigen Zentimetern Durchmesser zu einer Faser von einigen Mikrometern Durchmesser gezogen wird. Entlang der 13 m langen Ziehstrecke befinden sich zahlreiche Geräte zur Prozessüberwachung und auch beispielsweise zum Auftragen von Schutzschichten auf die Faser.
