Beschaffung Kolbenlot Das MARUM-Zentrum für Marine Umweltwissenschaften der Universität Bremen gewinnt grundle¬gende wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse über die Rolle des Ozeans und des Meeresbodens im gesamten Erdsystem. Dafür betreibt das MARUM moderne Technologien, um den Meeresboden zu beproben. Zur Erweiterung der wissenschaftlichen Infrastruktur möchte das MARUM ein Kolbenlotsystem beschaffen (Giant-Piston-Corer), um lange und vor allem hochwertige Sedimentkerne gewinnen zu können, die sehr wichtig für die Meeresforschung sind. Zwingend hierfür ist das Arbeitsprinzip des Kolbenlots, da es die Reibung am Kernrohr reduziert, Störungen beim Eindringen in den Meeresboden, sog. "washout" sowie Kernstauchungen, minimiert. Als Ergebnis werden feine Schichtungen sowie die Sediment-Wasser-Grenze erhalten.
