The works cover shifting a single-track section of about 1.3 km (from around km 6.110 to km 7.411) westwards to make room for two future additional tracks. The scope also includes superstructure and cable civil engineering works, construction of the new crossing structure Gleisdreieck (around km 6.38), a new bridge over Golfstraße (around km 6.48), removal of a sheet pile wall and construction of a noise barrier (km 6.421 to 6.941).
